Today, Sesame Workshop launches its newest initiative, Little Children, Big Challenges: Incarceration. This bilingual (English/Spanish) multimedia outreach initiative provides much-needed resources to support and comfort young children (ages 3–8) throughout their parents’ incarceration. This makes me so sad. I’m glad this need is recognised.
Sesame Street, being awesome since forever.
in a nation where jailing people is a large part of what holds up the creaking economy, this is not only a compassionate move, but a sensible and prescient one.
i was swinging with two of my kids and was saying that they should tell their parents that they are learning to swing so well. one said that he told his dad and the other one got quiet and then said “i’ll tell my grandma, because my daddy’s in jail.” this news is so welcomed, i really hope that it can help that little girl and thousands like her. geeze louise.
